Becaise not every bird found at the shore is a shorebird, and not every shorebird is found at the coastal shore. Many shorebirds migrate right through the middle of North America in the Central Flyway and stop over on the shores of rivers, lakes, ponds, and other wetlands as they make their way on their migration, and some stay to breed.
