ABOUT ABOUT

Hello Bird and Art Lovers of San Antonio!

Christina Baal is a bird artist with big dreams: she wants to meet and then paint 10,000 different species of birds in her lifetime. We are so happy to announce that Christina is coming to San Antonio, and YOU are ALL invited to meet her via Zoom and hear about her quest. Christina will be the featured speaker at the Audubon Annual Fall Event co-sponsored by Bexar Audubon Society and San Antonio Audubon Society on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.  If you participated in the 2021 Great Texas Biding Classic, you have already seen Christina’s work—the funky-feathered female Belted Kingfisher on the official Texas Birding Classic T-Shirt.

Christina is a wandering bird artist who graduated from Bard College in 2014 then started her own art business, Drawing 10,000 Birds, to achieve her life dream. Christina has traveled across the country and across the world, meeting all kinds of amazing birds and people while working as a naturalist and exhibiting artist at bird festivals. Her favorite birds are Yellow Warblers, Turkey Vultures, and California Condors. Join Christina as she describes the joys and misadventures of pursuing such an ambitious goal, as well as the importance of art in birding and how the practice of both transcends simply putting an image on paper. Christina will share some simple ways in which you can incorporate bird art into your own life, so get ready to leave feeling inspired!

Your $5 ticket purchase qualifies you to register for the event on Zoom, which begins at 6pm. The event begins with a reception for Christina and a viewing of her artwork, which is for sale on her website—originals, prints, cards, book marks, masks, clothing, and stickers—the perfect gifts for the bird lovers on your list. Christina's presentation will begin afterward, so sign in by 6pm to be sure you don't miss anything. Each person who attends will also receive a unique raffle number good for prizes at the end of the presentation.

It will be a FUN, colorful evening suitable for all ages!

To attend: First visit TicketLeap to purchase your $5 ticket. After purchase, you will be directed to a Zoom Link to Register for the event and receive your link admitting you to the Zoom meeting. Registration will also assign each person a "raffle number" for the prizes.

Deadline for reservations is Monday, November 15.
